February wasn’t the best of months for the industry in terms of software and hardware sales. PS3 did experience a 30 percent increase in sales over last year, but the industry on a whole realized another month of decreased sales compared to 2009. However in the midst of it all, the Xbox 360 manages, time and time again to defy the odds.

So I asked him about Sony’s new MOVE system, what pushed 360 sales for February and the thoughts of seeing God Of War 3 quality graphics on the 360."
GamePro: The Microsoft console claims the top spot in U.S for the first time in more than two years. Meanwhile, the PlayStation 3 sold 360,100 units, which while only good enough for third place represented a 30 percent increase on February 2009.
While the last entries in both series managed to move decent numbers, it does seem as though both critical and general interest is waning. ODST and Gears 2 seemed to have a good start out the gate, but within a week or two, they quickly faded from view as other titles took the spotlight.
PlayStrum writes: "February saw an outstanding number for the Xbox 360 in North America, surpassing even the Nintendo Wii and claiming the month as the best February in the 360’s history. Although the PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Wii do seem to be experiencing major shortages in the US, it’s still quite impressive to see such a big gap between Microsoft’s console and every other one."
With more than 613,000 units sold in February, the Nintendo DS family of systems set a new U.S. record for portable video game sales in the month of February, according to the independent NPD Group.
