Kauai Real Estate Is Diverse

Posted by Polisan On February - 28 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

When considering purchasing Kauai real estate, there are some areas that are just downright beautiful to the point that it can be hard to choose where to buy. But, depending on what type of scenery you love, you can narrow down your choices until you find that perfect spot. Here are six beautiful places in Kauai for you to enjoy:

The Alakai Wilderness Preserve: This area of Kauai sounds like the last place heaven would be, yet it is precisely what paradise is to many people. Although the locals refer to it as ‘Alaka’i swamp’ it is not a swamp, but a natural preserve of bog land. These bogs are great to hike at any time, and were created by their proximity to Mount Wai’ale’ale, which is one of the wettest places on earth. If you enjoy nature then this is a great place to explore and ‘discover’ for yourself the rare plants and birds that live here.

Hanalei Bay: In the summer this bay is like glass, lying on the North Shore, a bay with almost three miles of beach on Kauai. It offers a backdrop of waterfalls and high mountains, and the small friendly town of Hanalei is situated about half way along the bay. In the winter the surf is big and great for riding, although the water moves faster than the surf does. The real estate is fabulous, and is available both on the bay and in the town.

Ke’e Beach: This is the ideal area for a vacation home. It offers some the best unspoiled real estate on the island, and if you have children and love swimming and snorkeling, then this is about the best Kauai real estate you could purchase. The water is clear and quiet, with few currents and next to no waves. The climate is fabulous here on the Na Pali coastline, and you couldn’t ask for more if you want solitude and peace away from the city. There is some great land around here to buy for a fabulous vacation home.

Limahuli Garden and Preserve: For any outdoors person who loves hiking and some breathtaking natural views, this preserve is where you want to be. You’ll find that it lives up to the awards that it has won – such as the best natural botanical garden in the US – and you won’t want to miss anything here when you hike. There are residential areas nearby that have homes and vacant land you can purchase from which to enjoy the views and wonders of Limahuli Gardens.

Wailua River State Park: If you like canoeing and kayaking and any other form of water sport, then this is the place for you. Kauai real estate offered here is mainly residential and surrounds the park. The scenery is magnificent, with features such as the 150-foot astounding Opaeka’a Falls that is simply breathtaking. If you buy real estate here you are committed to natural beauty and water sports that will turn any visitor to your home green with envy.

Waimea Canyon State Park: Although the continental US has the Grand Canyon, Kauai has the Waimea Canyon. Formed by a volcano millions of years ago, this canyon is filled with lush forests, beautiful rivers and waterfalls, wonderful flora and fauna and is the habitat of rare and endangered birds found only on Kauai. Located on the West Side of Kauai, Waimea Canyon is convenient to historic Waimea town and the Kekaha beach community.

And that’s it. Six fabulous reasons to own Kauai real estate. They don’t have casinos and they don’t offer golf courses or tourist attractions other than those that Mother Nature created herself. There are many more lovely homes in Kauai you might prefer, but these are some of the best if you enjoy sheer natural beauty.

Posted by admin On November - 3 - 2009 ADD COMMENTS

When was the last time you felt totally lost in a fantasy gameworld? When was the last time you played a game with such a well-crafted and enjoyable story that you knew you’d remember it for a long, long time? Dragon Age: Origins is that kind of game, so rich and involving that you are powerless to resist its wiles and whims, so touching and triumphant that your mind and heart will be moved. In the fictional land of Ferelden, you meet memorable characters and fight for a cause you believe in, and it’s this backdrop that makes developer BioWare’s newest role-playing game so extraordinary. Dragon Age is more than a well-crafted story, however: It’s a lengthy, intricate, and thoroughly entertaining adventure that’s easy to fall in love with.

Prototype Review

Posted by admin On June - 11 - 2009 ADD COMMENTS

No matter how deeply they may be buried, even the most tortured antihero usually possesses some redeeming qualities. Not Alex Mercer. He pursues his quest for answers and vengeance with wanton disregard for humanity against the backdrop of a New York City torn apart by the violent struggle to stop an aggressive plague-like viral outbreak. In any other story this could make it nearly impossible to connect with him as the main character. For Prototype it works well. His ability to completely ignore the collateral damage caused by his actions unhitches the moral reins, allowing players to fully exercise the breadth of powers and abilities at his disposal without a second thought. If only the game itself were equally accommodating.

Prototype begins with Alex awaking on a slab at the morgue moments before being cut into for an autopsy. As he makes his escape through the ensuing chaos, he learns that his newfound resiliency is only the beginning of the changes happening to him. His physical abilities go well beyond an ordinary man’s. He can leap stories into the air, run at great speed, vault and bound over any obstacle in his path, and even run right up the face of a building. He’s also become a shapeshifter, able to absorb anyone and perfectly become them, clothing and all. These transformation powers pack a lethal side as well — he can transform his body into a weapon, turning his hands into razor-sharp claws, for instance.

Conan Addresses Super Mario Backdrop Claims

Posted by admin On June - 6 - 2009 ADD COMMENTS

You might have heard earlier this week how a website was claiming that Conan O’Brien’s new set looked suspiciously like a Super Mario Bros. level. Well, tonight on his show Conan addressed the accusations, saying that “it’s absurd — there’s no way that you could ever see Super Mario Bros. in this set.” And then he delivered the punchline, which you can see in this clip:

Anyway, it seems like Conan staged the entire thing, but either way, it’s pretty funny — and a really cool homage to the Nintendo game.

First impressions of Dante’s Inferno on PSP

Posted by admin On April - 22 - 2009 ADD COMMENTS

Pocket gamer writes: You could accuse it of being God of War with a different backdrop, but the comparison woundn’t bother EA at all. That people are comparing Dante’s Inferno (360 version pictured) to the massively successful myth-based hack ‘n’ slasher can only be a good thing, although the developers are keen to point out that they’ve been playing a lot of Devil May Cry and Onimusha too.

In fact, Dante’s Inferno is an attempt to make weapon-based melee action even more spectacular than its predecessors did. The sub-bosses are big enough as it is, and you have to get the better of them before you can even think about besting the actual bosses. Seems like EA’s throwing a bit a Shadow of the Colossus into the mix as well.

Nintendojo: Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars Review

Posted by admin On April - 12 - 2009 ADD COMMENTS

The few flaws aside, the GTA franchise thrives on the system, with missions becoming more focused and a second screen allowing for easy PDA, or menu access. Informative e-mails about tasks and front door delivery of weapons also keep everything up to date and accessible. Possibly most importantly, the stylus serves as a valuable tool throughout the title, becoming an essential element for the player and in-game character, Huang. It also doesn’t hurt that a gorgeous, cel-shaded Liberty City serves as a backdrop to all the action. Thus, Chinatown Wars not only lives up to its series’ namesake, it pushes the boundaries of what’s possible on Nintendo’s handheld system.
