PhyreEngine for the PlayStation 3 is an advanced graphics rendering engine used by developers on a number of Blu-Ray disc based titles as well as downloadable games from the PlayStation Store. Now Sony is bringing PhyreEngine to the PSP to "make use of the strengths of the platform".
Capcom announced today that the first downloadable installment for Resident Evil 5, “Lost in Nightmares,” is available now on the Xbox Live Marketplace and will be available tomorrow on the Playstation Store. “Lost in Nightmares” lets players control the action leading up to the death of Jill Valentine, a story that was previously told only through cut scenes. In addition to the campaign component, “Lost in Nightmares” also comes with two new playable characters for The Mercanaries Reunion.
The second content pack for Resident Evil 5, “Desperate Escape,” will be available on March 3 for Xbox Live and March 4 on the Playstation Network. Furthermore, Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition, which will release on March 9, will have both content packs on a single Blu-Ray disc for the Playstation 3 and will come with a download token for the Xbox 360 version.

"Here are three reasons why Sony’s PS3 is beating Microsoft (NSDQ:MSFT)’s Xbox 360 in the marketplace."
1. Sony PS3 Is A Better Value Than Xbox 360
Check it out. For $349.99 from Best Buy (NYSE:BBY) you get the new lighter and slimmer PS3 with a 250 Gbyte hard drive, built in Blu-Ray disc player (yes Blu-Ray!), built-in WiFi lets you access the Internet and the FREE PlayStation Network, where you can download exclusive games, movies, TV shows.
2. The PlayStation Network Is Better Than Xbox Live
PlayStation got it right with its Free service to gamers offering unmatched games and game content along with robust Blu-Ray video content from Netflix and major studios.
3. PS3 Is A More Reliable And Better Engineered Product Than Xbox 360.
Yes, engineering and reliability matter particularly for hard core gamers that are banging on a system day in and day out.
Today, God of War Collection for the PS3 arrived. Packaged in a nice little PS3 box, you’ll find one Blu-ray disc containing both titles and a God of War III demo voucher. Pics of the box, menu, disc art, and game screens all taken.
While PlayStation 3 gamers everywhere await the March release of God of War III, Sony Santa Monica Studios and Bluepoint aim to make the wait just a little bit easier with the release of the God of War Collection. The single Blu-ray disc includes both of the original PlayStation 2 games, with both running in 720p at 60fps with 2x anti-aliasing.
While the games haven’t been touched in terms of gameplay, textures, models or anything else of this nature, it naturally looks noticeably better running in HD. The lighting is more natural and the framerate boost provides a tangible difference in the smoothness of the controls.

There have been many people (including us) who are amazed at the technology behind the Cell processor and the massive storage space of the blu ray disc. All of us who have bought the Playstation 3 must have bought many blockbuster games along with it. Games like Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, Killzone 2, Little Big Planet and the more recent Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. But there are some games which we have played in the last generation ( and the previous ones too) and we are forced to wonder if we will ever get them to play with next generation graphics and gameplay. We decide to list those games which should be played on the PlayStation 3."

BLU-RAY DISCS of 100GB or 200GB are incompatible with available players, according to The Blu-ray Disc Association.
So although producers like Sharp or TDK have announced multi-layer high-capacity media that can store hundreds of gigabytes of data, users will be unable to play them. This is because current players cannot handle more than 50GB.
"Player manufacturers design players to meet published specifications that define maximum media capacity, which in the case of Blu-ray Disc, is 50GB on two-layer media," said Andy Parsons, SVP of corporate communications and new product planning for Pioneer and the chairman of BDA’s promotion committee in the US, in an interview with Home Media Magazine.
