IncGamers reports that Blizzard has released the twelfth edition of its BlizzCast, which this time focusses on the Warcraft franchise, where it came from and where it’s going.

A snippet from Chris Metzen:

"I can tell you the Cataclysm expansion set we announced wasn’t necessarily part of the product plan four years ago. But as things moved and shifted in flight, we kind of got done with Northrend and felt how satisfying that was. It was just this idea that started to percolate, and you know what? We needed to do this now and I do not want to put it off because some of these other ideas can stand to come later right?"

StarcraftWire.net has a review of the latest TOKYOPOP manga based on the award-winning RTS Game Starcraft. The first story in this manga, titled Homecoming, serves as a backstory on the main character marshal-turned-rebel Jim Raynor.

The story ties-in straight into the first mission in Mar Sara at the beginning of Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty’s single player. The story written by no other than Blizzard Entertainment’s Senior VP of Creative Design Chris Metzen left a cliffhanger that might be exploited and come back to bite fans in the game. Mystery ensues. Did Jim Raynor’s son truly die?

Pocket Books and Blizzard Entertainment have finally revealed the front cover of the upcoming novel by Richard A. Knaak titled World of Warcraft: Stormrage.

A few months ago, Chris Metzen and Micky Neilson revealed this book would deal with the Nightmare which is affecting the Emerald Dream. Thus making lore geeks go into speculation-mode that the next expansion to the MMORPG might introduce the Emerald Dream.

The front cover already incites controversy. The twins Malfurion and Illidan were identical except for one thing. Illidan’s eyes were golden, while Malfurion’s were silver. This front cover shows a golden-eyed Malfurion which brings the interrogative whether Illidan’s psyche has somehow shared Malfurion’s body after his demise in the Black Temple.

The novel hits bookstores on February 10, 2010.

Coincidentally, Bruce Campbell attended the San Diego Comic Con where Chris Metzen (Blizzard Creative Director) participated in a panel. The media asked both if Bruce Campbell would make a cameo in the Warcraft movie. Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell have been old friends since childhood, and the latter has worked on various movies and TV series directed by Raimi.

DC Comics and Wildstorm released the solicitations for World of Warcraft # 22 due August 19. Lore fans are excited to hear the Council of Tirisfal will be reborn.

This was somewhat hinted by Chris Metzen in a video interview at the New York Comic Con during the book signing session at the Simon & Schuster, Inc. Pocket Books booth.
