Lexi's List

Hello and welcome to Lexi’s List, Volume 4! This week we have a modern take on Tetris, a ring that doubles as a photo projector and more! Let’s do it!

First up…the Portrait Projection Ring

Custom Projection Ring

This is a custom designed wedding ring for the couple pictured. If a light is shone through the clear part on the bottom of the ring, the pictures on the top side will be projected onto a wall or any other surface! The ring was inspired by a 19th century style of jewelry/trinkets called Standhopes. It is a really creative way to preserve memories and see them again and again, as often as you like! Click here for more information.

If you like beer, magnets, and LED lights, this might be the perfect room accessory for you…a Magnetic Floating Revolving 18-LED Beer Display Set!

Magnetic Beer Display

What better way to impress your friends and prove that you are over 21, all at the same time! You simply place the beer bottle inside and it will turn clockwise or counter clockwise, lit up by the brilliant LED lights! Click on the photo for more info!

Next up…a “Punch Out” inspired t-shirt designed by TapouT!

Punch Out T-Shirt

100% cotton = 100% awesome! This tee is part of the Jens Pulver II Walkout signature series. Click the pic for more! (Thanks to Eric for the submission!)

Last on the List today….a wall decal paying homage to everyone’s favorite set of falling blocks, Tetris!

Tetris Wall Design

Dedicate a wall to the classic game with these custom made decals from VinylWallDesign. Check out the store for more decals, from Pac-Man to Space Invaders!

That’s it for this week, see you all next Monday with more geeky gamer goodies!

After Burner Climax Gets Downloadable Console Ports

Posted by admin On January - 20 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

Sega announced today that home ports of 2006 arcade remake After Burner Climax are in the works for both the PS3 and Xbox 360. Both versions, which are due out this spring in Japan, will be download-exclusive and cost either 900 yen (PS3) or 800 MS points (360).

A modern update of Sega’s classic 1987 game, After Burner Climax is an action-oriented shooter where you view the carnage from behind your fighter craft. The emphasis is on speed and thrills over staid simulation, and the remake includes a “Climax Mode” that essentially unlocks in-flight bullet time once you fill a gauge up to maximum.

The home port will feature a variety of unlockable options that let you fine-tune the game to your liking. You’ll also be able to play the game using the original 1987 soundtrack, if you’re one of those diehard Sega fanatics who never quite got over the 16-bit generation.

Retronauts Video: Secrets of Japan’s Best Game Stores

Posted by admin On September - 18 - 2009 ADD COMMENTS

Wired: Here’s a guided tour of the curiosities to be found in two of Japan’s best classic game stores.

Last year at Tokyo Game Show, the Retronauts crew went around to our favorite hot spots with a video camera in tow. First, we hit up Super Potato in Akihabara, the colorful, happy store packed floor to ceiling with every old game you never knew you really wanted to buy. After checking out some of the crazier stuff, like a Puck-Man LCD game and insanely expensive soundtracks, we ate some bread in a can. It was gross.

iPhone Review: Arkanoid | The Portable Gamer

Posted by admin On September - 18 - 2009 ADD COMMENTS

TPG writes: "Arkanoid is strangely enough the remake, or re-envisioning, of the classic original Arkanoid arcade game released back in the 1980s. Bet you never saw that coming eh? Simply put, Arkanoid was and still is stupidly addictive and great fun to boot. The concept is extremely simple: you are a space ship (or a paddle for the less fancy way of putting it) who has to bounce a ball up the screen to clear the blocks above it so as to clear the level. Things are complicated by obstacles such as blocks that can’t be cleared and the fact that you lose a life if you miss bouncing the ball skywards. Think of it as a little like Pong but with things to hit, very simple to play but it really does keep you hooked."
