God Of War III Is Already Awesome At Everything?

Posted by admin On February - 25 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

What makes it better is that there has been nothing but good news streaming in over the last couple of days with regards to elements outside of the game itself. While we all want to step into Kratos shoes as soon as possible, there are always the other little niggles, like how big the install is and what the loading times will be like.

17 Billion Hours Logged on Xbox Live So Far

Posted by admin On January - 21 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

For the past couple of days, a few G4 staffers have been discussing the pros and cons of Microsoft and Sony’s approaches to their respective online content offerings.

Anyway, the general consensus has consistently been that Microsoft really got its act together (eventually) in terms of Xbox Live, and thanks to Microsoft’s social media lead for Live, TriXie, they now have some rather staggering statistics to quantify just how popular the service has been since it launched back in 2002.

PS3 Firmware 3.15 Incoming

Posted by admin On December - 9 - 2009 ADD COMMENTS

ps3

If you’ve ever found yourself playing one of the new PSP Minis on the morning train ride, and thinking to yourself “Oh I wish I could play this on my TV” you’re probably the only one. Through some divine miracle, your wish has been granted with firmware 3.15 for the PS3! Way to go – you had the chance to have a wish come true, and you wasted it on Minis on the PS3. If you weren’t so damned selfish we could all be enjoying world peace right now.

3.15 does more than bring small games to big screens. It also makes transferring files from one PS3 to another easy as pie. If you have a second PS3 in your home, you’ll be able to transfer all your game saves, games, and videos to the second console with ease thanks to the new transfer features in 3.15. Just connect your PS3’s with a standard ethernet cable, click a few buttons, and BAM! Your content is on two consoles! The update will be hitting shortly according to the Playstation Blog, which usually means you can expect to see the update sometime within the next couple of days.

Did Infinity Ward Ship DLC with Modern Warfare 2?

Posted by admin On November - 20 - 2009 ADD COMMENTS

Well over the last couple of days the PC guys have been finding all kinds of hidden code in the Modern Warfare 2 game. New gametypes mainly. There are three found so far, VIP, Global Thermonuclear War ( where one side must capture a nuke see vid below) Capture the Flag ( Single Flag, Two Teams).

Is it safe to assume that the public will unlock these new game types after a small payment is made to IW… Thoughts?

The Portable Gamer: Interview with David Sobolov

Posted by admin On July - 29 - 2009 ADD COMMENTS

iMEvil_appstore_300x300Yep, The Portable Gamer pulled ouff an incredible coup a couple of days ago, and decided to share it with the Games Are Evil readers, due to it’s extreme Evil-osity. Here’s what they wrote:

“I got a chance to sit down over the phone with David Sobolov, the evil voice inside IMEvil as well as the voice of the Arbiter from Halo Wars, St. Vasquez from Call of Duty 4, and a sh*t-ton of other games and animated shows and movies (BEAST WARS FTW!!!). Listen in as we talk about how he got started in the industry, his favorite things about being “the voice of evil,” and the App itself, IMEvil, which lists Mr. Sobolov as a producer.
We’ll be announcing a contest to win a chance to write an Evil saying and have it performed in an upcoming update of IMEvil very soon, so get those evil brains a-workin.”

So, listen in right here, as Rob chats with Mr. Sobolov in a very Evil special podcast.

Sony’s E3 2009 Press Conference Could Be The Biggest In History & A Turning Point In Software Perception

Posted by admin On April - 18 - 2009 ADD COMMENTS

Twiggy, PushSquare.com: "I’ve been sat here pondering on a topic for today’s Opinionator for a couple of days now. While I was going to talk about Killzone’s irritating emphasis on terrible characters, I’ve decided a discussion on E3 would be ever more prevalent, particularly with Sony’s superman John Koller claiming it to be the most important conference in 11 years for Sony. I’m still yet to be convinced that blockbuster games equal mainstream hardware sales, but I am convinced that blockbuster games will equate to niche hardware sales – the niche being us, the gamers, who cannot stand to go without. And that’s exactly why I think E3 2009 could be a turning point in perception for the Playstation 3."

A balancing argument on why Sony’s E3 2009 conference could provide the turning point for gamer’s perception on the Playstation range, concluding in:

"Instead of those in the loop questioning what Sony don’t have, they’ll be questioning what THEY don’t have – a Playstation 3, PSP and access to all the quality content that Sony have in the pipeline."

Final Fantasy XIII Demo A Complete Waste Of Time

Posted by admin On April - 13 - 2009 ADD COMMENTS

Anyone who’s even vaguely interested in Final Fantasy XIII will know that in a couple of days Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete comes out in Japan, and with it comes a demo of Final Fantasy XIII. It’s been talked up for quite a while, but some of Square Enix’s recent statements really question the validity of the demo itself as to be honest, it now seems fairly redundant.
