New DSi Bundle Hitting Store Shelves

Posted by admin On April - 13 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

A new Nintendo DSi bundle will be gracing store shelves on April 25, 2010.  Yes, we know the DSi XL is out now.  Keep in mind that Nintendo promoted the DS Lite in a new color and game package when the DSi was first introduced.

The new DSi bundle will come with a white DSi along with Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story.  This new DSi bundle will retail for $169.99.  That is the cost of a normal DSi for those out of the pricing loop.  If you are considering getting a DSi, you might want to wait until this bundle hits the shelves.  A free game is a free game!  It is even a decent free game to boot.

Nintendo DSi XL Review – Nintendo Now

Posted by admin On March - 28 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

Nintendo Now writes:

"With news of the new Nintendo 3DS still floating around, there is actually another iteration of the handheld that is soon to release; the Nintendo DSi XL. Just as the name suggests, it is a much larger version of the already released Nintendo DSi. So the big question on mostly everyone’s mind at the moment is if you should consider purchasing this version. Well read on for my review of the Nintendo DSi XL and see for yourself if it’s worthy of your money."

Nintendo’s New DS Will Still Force You To Re-Buy Your Digital Games

Posted by admin On March - 28 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

Kotaku: Lagging behind standards maintained by competitors Sony, Microsoft and Apple, Nintendo is launching its second portable gaming system capable of downloading video games, without letting those who downloaded games on their first DS to transfer them to the new one.

Nintendo is currently operating a pay-for-it-twice system for its DSiWare line-up, something that will be evident to those who pick up the DSi XL when it launches this weekend and try to download games they may have already purchased for the DSi. Nintendo told Kotaku that the DSi XL will not recognize prior purchases of DSiWare games – downloadable games such as Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Minis March Again and ArtStyle Pictobits that typically cost $2 to $5, even though the same games are made to run on both systems.

Is This How 3D Will Work On The Nintendo 3DS?

Posted by admin On March - 23 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

"The game in the clip above is called 3D Hidden Picture. It’s a DSiWare puzzle game, available in Japan, that uses the DSi’s camera to track the movement of the console, and adjust the image accordingly to make it appear "3D"."

"Nintendo don’t do expensive anymore, since the average consumer won’t buy expensive."

"So, like the Wii, Nintendo may well "fudge" it."

"Instead, I’d put my money on Nintendo employing the same basic technology used in Hidden Picture, only using a combination of more advanced cameras and a boost in performance"

Nintendo Announces DS Successor: Nintendo 3DS

Posted by admin On March - 23 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

Right before the next generation of the Nintendo DSi XL launches stateside on Sunday of this week, Nintendo seems to have another trick up their sleeve.  Fortunately for us, it is not just another iteration of the DS formula, but rather, an entirely new handheld! Check out the full details of the Press Release, fresh out of Japan, below:

“Nintendo 3DS”(temp) is going to be the new portable game machine to succeed “Nintendo DS series”, whose cumulative consolidated sales from Nintendo amounted to 125million units as of the end of December 2009, and will include backward compatibility so that the software for Nintendo DS series, including the ones for Nintendo DSi, can also be enjoyed. — via Nintendo’s Investor Relations site

It is noted specifically in this release that this will be a 3D handheld that WILL NOT require the use of 3D glasses. This is a huge break, given that I don’t really have enough room for glasses in my pockets, what with all of the other Nintendo handhelds already cluttering them.  Also, don’t lose sight of the fact that this will be backwards compatible with the gigantic back library of DS and the eventual flood of DSi games.

This will most likely be looked upon as the next logical jump in the handheld arena, so I will be interested to see what else Nintendo announces at E3 this year.
