The cast of Metal Gear Solid: The Movie
GamerZines: It’s looking less and less likely that we’ll see Hideo Kojima’s most famous franchise make the transition to the big screen. Even though this news is probably a blessing in disguise, we can’t help but throw in our two cents and formulate our own fantasy cast list for the big screen adaptation of the original Metal Gear Solid.
Why Fantasy MMOs Have An Edge Over Sci-Fi
Does the Sci-Fi genre mix well with the MMORPG? The first MMOs were fantasy, based on the old Dungeon and Dragons role-playing games. The rules and terminology in MMOs, even recent ones like AoC and Warhammer, still hark back to the pen and paper era. Sci-Fi MMOs have to take that basic formula and change it to fit their universes. It’s relatively easy to do, replace mana with energy cells etc. but is it fun to play once the mixture has been tampered with? I had a look through the brief history of Sci-Fi MMOs to see how they fared.
First Screenshot Surfaces of Puzzle Quest 2
We’re getting our first look at Puzzle Quest 2, thanks to a teaser from GamePro. The January issue of GamePro magazine is set to give more details on the sequel, and for now we’ve been given a high-res screenshot (above) that shows a battle sequence. It seems to carry a lot in common with the original Puzzle Quest, with the addition of a new glove icon. No platforms have been announced yet, but given the sharp screenshot it’s a safe bet that it will be on PC, Xbox 360, and/or PlayStation 3. The previous installment had lower-res versions for PSP and DS as well.
D3 Publisher went on to make Puzzle Quest: Galactrix, which was well-liked but not quite as well-reviewed as its fantasy counterpart. We’ll see if going back to the original formula does its job at recapturing fans who were put off by the hex-puzzle-based space puzzler.

When was the last time you felt totally lost in a fantasy gameworld? When was the last time you played a game with such a well-crafted and enjoyable story that you knew you’d remember it for a long, long time? Dragon Age: Origins is that kind of game, so rich and involving that you are powerless to resist its wiles and whims, so touching and triumphant that your mind and heart will be moved. In the fictional land of Ferelden, you meet memorable characters and fight for a cause you believe in, and it’s this backdrop that makes developer BioWare’s newest role-playing game so extraordinary. Dragon Age is more than a well-crafted story, however: It’s a lengthy, intricate, and thoroughly entertaining adventure that’s easy to fall in love with.
