Sims 3 Ambitions Scheduled to Heat up Your Sims’ Summer

Posted by admin On March - 15 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

There’s no two ways about it, people love The Sims franchise.  According to sales data, it was the best selling PC game of 2009.  The game has managed to maintain momentum, and as the weather gets warmer, fans of The Sims 3 are eagerly awaiting the release of the latest expansion pack.

Ambitions, set to drop in June of this year, will further expand and enhance the world of The Sims.  Fans will now be able to pursue a variety of exciting paths and careers in their Sims’ lives that in turn affect the overall gameplay experience.

“Career gameplay is something we’ve wanted to do for a long time and it’s something that our players consistently request, “ says Grant Rodiek, Associate Producer on The Sims 3 Development Team. “We always strive to do something new that hasn’t been seen in The Sims before.  We’re especially excited about the fact that the in-depth careers really offer something for all types of players.  Storytellers will love solving mysteries as an investigator or resolving the problems of the afterlife as a ghost hunter.”

Sims 3 addicts can also register their game to get access to exclusive online content.  Private eye cases, hairs, and widgets for the inventing bench are just some of the bonuses players can look forward to with Ambitions.

Fans who explore the Ambitions expansion pack will also discover a new way to customize their Sims: Tattoos.

Rodiek adds, “The Tattoo System is an incredibly powerful new creative tool for our players. Players can apply multiple tattoos in up to five layers, scale them, change the colors, and even modify opacity. Players can also upload and share these tattoos on the exchange, giving our community yet another creative outlet.”

Ghost Recon: Future Soldier Beta ships with Splinter Cell Conviction, Releases Holiday 2010

Posted by admin On February - 9 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

It’s been a long wait for Ghost Recon fans but Tom Clancy fanatics are entitled to a special treat should they pick up Sam Fisher’s newest outing this April. While game details remain sparse in the press release below (No screenshots Ubisoft? Really?) we do know that Ubisoft Paris is behind this one again. And much like the Halo: Reach beta on the ODST disc, future soldiers will have to wait until summer when the multiplayer  demo finally goes live. Strangely, PS3 owners are getting the shaft on this one with the beta only available for members of Xbox Live. The question remains whether gamers will have tired of the whole “Modern Soldier Model” after a year with MW2 and the next Medal of Honor installment.

LONDON – February 9, 2010 – Today Ubisoft announced that Tom Clancy™’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldier™ is in development at Ubisoft’s Paris studio and is scheduled to be released worldwide Holiday 2010.

Created by the award-winning team behind Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter® and Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter® 2, the game will feature cutting-edge technology, prototype high-tech weaponry, and state-of-the-art single-player and multiplayer modes. Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldier will go beyond the core Ghost Recon franchise and deliver a fresh gameplay experience, with an unparalleled level of quality that will excite long-time fans and newcomers alike.

Ubisoft is offering gamers a chance to be the first to play Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldier’s Multiplayer Beta this summer 2010. This exclusive beta invitation will be available for a limited time to customers who purchase Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Conviction™ for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, which releases on 16 April 2010.

Nintendo to Progress "in Step" with HD Technology

Posted by admin On October - 16 - 2009 ADD COMMENTS

Super Mario Galaxy HD

Nintendo may not have a high-definition console on the market now, but recent comments from Shigeru Miyamoto at a New York City roundtable seem to indicate the company isn’t opposed to producing one soon. IndustryGamers reports that Miyamoto was asked how he (and by extension, Nintendo) feels about HD. “I don’t think there’s anything wrong with pretty graphics, and if I’m a consumer that has an HDTV, I’d want to be able to play my games with nice graphics too,” he said. “And I think as we’ve seen the penetration rates for HDTV increase, we’re going to see video games and Nintendo’s games move along in step with the progression of technology.”

It’s far from a promise, but it is acknowledgement that Nintendo understands the desire for an HD console and the increased base of people who own a TV to go with it. Of course, Miyamoto also pointed out that it wouldn’t change the philosophy at Nintendo. “What I don’t think is necessarily true is that the graphics itself is something that’s going to make the gameplay experience better,” he said. “So we’re still going to focus on the gameplay, but we’ll take advantage of the technology as it comes out.” So this may mean it won’t be too much longer before visuals like this are a reality, without back door solutions like emulation.
