PSLS: Sex mini-games have become a trademark in God of War games, with each title offering players the opportunity to interact with well proportioned females. God of War III will continue this tradition, and the nosey folks at the ESRB has detailed the mini-game and provided a glimpse at what it entails.
VGArabia: X10 gave us a good look for what to expect of the Xbox360 this year. With games such as Halo: reach, Alan Wake, Splinter Cell: Conviction, and Fable 3, you can see that the Xbox360 lineup is far more stronger in 2010 compared to last year. And if Microsoft’s Aaron Greenburg recent statement that X10 is "just a glimpse" of this year’s lineup is true, I think it will make things even harder for Sony’s PS3 to catch up with the Xbox360.
Microsoft’s Aaron Greenburg told OXM that the lineup of Xbox 360 exclusives shown at this week’s X10 event in San Francisco is "just a glimpse" of what’s coming this year.
"It’s only February. These are all exclusive, triple-A titles that are going to sell millions of units, and I think it’s a pretty clear sign that this is going to be a huge year," he said of the event lineup including titles like Alan Wake, Crackdown 2, Fable 3 and Halo: Reach.
"And that, by the way, is just a glimpse of what we have for the year. We’re going to have more at E3, more at holiday, it’s going to be a huge year for us."
Kotaku writes: Microsoft’s robust X10 video game showcase this week in San Francisco was just the tip of the iceberg for the Xbox 360’s 2010 offerings, Microsoft’s Aaron Greenberg told Kotaku.
"To be this early in the year and able to have an E3-quality line-up with triple-A blockbuster titles, that really speaks to how big a year this will be for us," said Greenberg, director of Product Management for Xbox 360 and Xbox LIVE. "This is just a glimpse of the quality of products we’re going to bring throughout the full year."
"It’s going to be a big year… it’s going to be the biggest year in the history of Xbox."
Vgchartz.com’s Senior Analyst, Jacob Mazel, delves deep into Activision – Blizzard’s Quarterly Report and emerges with plenty of easter eggs. Aside from a strong profit showing in Quarter 3 of Fiscal Year 2009, the mega-publisher also gives us a glimpse at how they think the hardware market will look in 2010, and which hardware they make the most revenue on.
Begun in 2003 by Robbie Cooper, the Alter Ego Project chronicles photographic essays about people and their gaming avatars. Cooper says,
“Most of us spend a huge amount of time in front of screens, at work and play. Research studies indicate that in the US, the average school age child spends around 4 hours a day in front of TV, computer and video game screens. The average work age adult probably spends far longer. We access a whole spectrum of software, entertainment programming and information through these screens. The interaction with programming, software and with others, through this space, is becoming an increasingly significant part of life.”
Call us fascinated at first sight. Especially when we came across Jason Rowe’s essay and photo. This dude, born in 1975, plays Star Wars Galaxies. Here’s what he has to say,
“The difference between me and my online character is pretty obvious. I have a lot of physical disabilities in real life, but in Star Wars Galaxies I can ride an Imperial speeder bike, fight monsters, or just hang out with friends at a bar. I have some use of my hands – not much, but a little. In the game I use an on-screen keyboard called ’soft-type’ to talk with other players. I can’t press the keys on a regular keyboard so I use a virtual one. I play online games because I get to interact with people. The computer screen is my window to the world. Online it doesn’t matter what you look like. Virtual worlds bring people together – everyone is on common ground. In the real world, people can be uncomfortable around me before they get to know me and realize that, apart from my outer appearance, I’m just like them.”
Can you dig it? We can. Make sure you visit the site and read through all the essays — it’s a fascinating look at people, their online personas, and a glimpse into the future. If you’re not a gamer (and why are you even reading this site if you’re not), you might want to become one. We’re thinking more and more of us are going to connect virtually, and here you are, at the start of that kind of paradigm shift.
Taking that a bit further, we’re even closer to a way to see past the outside “looks” of people we meet in real life and see through to their true character, all through the technological magic of these avatars. We get to know guys like Jason — hang out with them, joke around, meet their true inner self — long before our prejudices and fears get in the way. We’re moving, hopefully, to a time of better inclusion of all people together in a community, without regard to race, color, creed, or physical ability. This can’t be a bad thing.

Never before have we seen such excitement and fanfare, never in my lifetime have I seen gamers and publications so thirsty for just a glimpse, a look, at any other game in history. IGN wants more. Gamers cuss vile language because promised footage wasn’t released, the internet goes wild at the mere mention of its title. Journalists are left speechless, flushed with no utterance and why? Because they’ve seen unreleased footage.
Santa Monica whatever you did, or whatever you’re doing, please don’t change, because by the look of things, March is about to become the biggest month in 2010.
Not just a Real Time Strategy game, but a Meta-Time Strategy game (world’s first, according to developers), Achron for the PC looks pretty interesting. From the developer website:
Like many other games, Achron allows the player to view an overhead map of the surrounding area. However, Achron also shows a map of the timeline. If the player is attacked at a certain point in time, the timeline will show the amount of damage received at that point by a large amount of red on that portion of the timeline. The timeline also shows information including damage dealt and chronoports. Being able to see the amount of available resources at any point in time helps the player figure out the best points in time to construct more units.
Even the purchasing of the game takes place out of real time. Not only do you get to pay for a game you get in the future (which makes you playing a game you paid for in the past), but you get, right now, five full single player levels. Purchasers will get all future major builds up through the final release, plus mod and development tools. Pretty sweet, right? Of course, back in our day, we used to call that a “beta.”
Check out the screenshots below for a glimpse backward through time into the game’s development.
Check out the brand spankin new Divinity 2 trailer. cdv Software gives us a glimpse at what it is like to go from human to dragon form. Could this be one of the first must own games of 2010? If the videos reflect the game, it just might be. Now hit play, you know you want to!
