Every year the world of gaming press and media stuff into convention centers, auditoriums, and demo rooms to see what fancy new things some of our favorite developers are cooking up. This year was chock full of motion controls, 3D, redesigns, and many other wonderful things that we realize you just have to see and try for yourself to get an idea on how great they are (and could be). And amongst all of the hype and fascination that comes out of E3, some titles strike us as being better than the rest to the point where we are actually so impressed, we decided to doll out awards to what we feel managed to win some of our coveted Best of E3 Awards.

Halo: Reach
Bungie’s swan song about the Halo universe is a polished masterpiece that takes the best parts of all of their past efforts and wraps them up into the package called Halo: Reach. Set before the events of Halo: Combat Evolved, the outcome of Reach is sort of already set in stone — but it’s about the journey not the destination anyway, right? With its new co-operative mechanic, a perfected multiplayer mode, and the recently announced space combat, Reach is primed to be a shining light in an already fantastic series.

BEST PS3 GAME
Infamous 2
It’s an improved version of the best superhero game not called Batman: Arkham Asylum. Sony is taking the “Uncharted 2 approach” to their sequels, and inFamous 2 might be the best depiction of that philosophy. The tweaked melee combat, the addition of environmental destructibility (which is pretty damn cool in an open world game), the New Orleans inspired setting, and crazy superpowers like Vortex (think “electric tornado”) all combine to make a spectacular first impression.
