Today, Konami announced the release of the latest (and supposedly greatest) addition to the Yu-Gi-Oh! family of games. Based on the 5D cartoon on Cartoon Network, this game enhances dueling, and makes over 3500 cards available to gamers who will duel their way to the World Championship.

You’ll find Reverse of Arcadia available for the Nintendo DS/DSi in retail stores across the country for $29.99, with an ESRB rating of E10+, as well as three exclusive trading cards!

Metal Gear Arcade: An Odd MGS4 Multiplayer Adaptation With 3D And Headtracking

Posted by admin On February - 21 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

Metal Gear Arcade gave me a headache. Announced at last year’s E3, Konami has taken the multiplayer component of Metal Gear Solid 4 and attempted to recreate the experience with networked arcade machines. Though, the company didn’t release any more information after E3, and many forgot about the game in the interim; it finally reappeared this weekend at the AOU Amusement Expo (an arcade game trade show in Japan), and we had the chance to play it.

Metal Gear Arcade (MGA) did not exactly set the gaming world on fire when it was announced. For one thing, outside of a handful of hardcore players, MGS4’s multiplayer component was widely derided and quickly forgotten. So the prospect of paying the equivalent of several dollars a round to play an underwhelming multiplayer shooter was not exciting. In order to combat this perception, Konami decided to add two important features to the game that can?t be replicated at home.

Metal Gear Arcade Footage from AOU Show

Posted by admin On February - 20 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

At the AOU arcade show that just kicked off in Japan, Konami is showing off a brand new Metal Gear arcade game called, well, Metal Gear Arcade. Featuring 3D graphics, head tracking, and cabinets that can be networked, Metal Gear Arcade seems like it could be pretty interesting. Certainly a hell of a lot better than the Castlevania arcade game Konami put out last year. Anyway, Japanese site Gigazine posted up some videos from the show, but we’ll be back with some of our own impressions soon.

For Konami, Things Are Hard Without Metal Gear Solid

Posted by admin On February - 4 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

Konami is home to some of the biggest franchises in gaming history, think Pro Evolution Soccer and Metal Gear Solid. So in the absence of these two titles, the company’s financial results are rather grim.

Konami has brought the arcade shooter fun of Assault Heroes to the PS3.  Assault Heroes takes the 2D arcade game, puts on some 3D sweetness, packs it into an all out fun action game, and sends it to you.  Play through three difficulty levels, earn 12 trophies, and find some bonus levels.  All this and it is only $9.99.  What makes it even better is you get a flame thrower.  Assault Heroes is available now.

Vandal Hearts: Flames of Judgment Review

Posted by admin On January - 23 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

Out of all the Konami franchises to resurrect, Vandal Hearts feels like a somewhat random and inexplicable choice. The first two games, released in the late ’90s for the original PlayStation, weren’t met with much fanfare upon release, even at a time when RPG fans would play anything and everything from Japan for the sake of novelty value alone. In fact, most only know this strategy-RPG series for the fountains of arterial spray that would gush forth from its little warriors after the slightest nick of a dagger.

And now, more than a decade since the last Vandal Hearts installment, things haven’t changed a bit in the downloadable-only title Vandal Hearts: Flames of Judgment; the characters’ penchant for emitting torrents of fire hose-pressure blood marks one of the few memorable elements of a mostly unremarkable game.
