First, they showed off the bevy of new [...]

Release of the Week: Halo Reach Beta (360)

Posted by admin On May - 3 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

Yeah, that’s right. The best game this week is only an open beta. I have made this decision for two reasons. First of all, nothing really notable is coming out other than the Iron Man 2 movie tie in and I don’t like movie games. Secondly, if you have ever been a Halo fan, then this is what you will be playing for the next couple weeks.

While ODST acted more as a supplement to Halo 3, Reach is essentially Halo 4. New maps, new modes and a new(ish) health system are all things that you are going to want to try out before the game is released later this year. Beyond that, Reach will include stealth, jump packs and assassinations. If you are a Halo fan then I’m sure that you already know all about the beta. However, as the Beta started today, I am also sure that you are probably too busy playing the beta to even be bothered read this article.

Just in case you have been living under a rock, you will need have a  copy of Halo: ODST to get into the Beta. From there, you just access the beta from extras menu on campaign disk. Simple as that. Makes me wonder why Modern Warfare 2 never had a beta…

No Dpad: Geometry Wars: Touch Review

Posted by admin On April - 17 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

No Dpad writes: "Activision, in my opinion, is still a bit iffy when it comes to iPhone games. Call of Duty: World at War Zombies costs a lot of dough, and the content on that game is questionable. It’s still a fun game, but again, I can’t bring myself to believe it’s worth $9.99. Geometry Wars: Touch, on the other hand, seems to be priced correctly along with added modes for the iPad."

IGN: Glasses-less 3D Tech Explained

Posted by admin On March - 24 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

Yes, a new DS is coming, and while that isn’t shocking news in itself, the fact that it’ll be packing some form of 3D display is something no one expected. But how does Nintendo actually plan to get the 3DS’s images to jump off the screen without using glasses? IGN looks into the technologies Nintendo may be implementing in their latest device.

No glasses means the 3DS’s screen will have to be able to switch between 2D and 3D modes and display a solid image – none of that blurry double-vision junk. There are currently three ways of doing this: with a camera, with a motion sensor, or with special screen technology.
