Sony teases ‘very robust’ 2010 for PSP, which still struggles with piracy

Posted by admin On February - 23 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

Joystiq writes:

After completing 2009 with redesigned hardware and several high-profile games (including Assassin’s Creed: Bloodlines, MotorStorm: Arctic Edge and LittleBigPlanet), the PSP platform is looking for another strong lineup to carry it until the end of another year. Sony’s senior vice president of publisher relations, Rob Dyer, told Industry Gamers that third parties will provide a "very robust lineup" in 2010 — albeit one that has to face a very old problem.

"I think we had a great lineup last year. The biggest problem that plagued PSP was piracy; we have not been able to slow that down," Dyer said. "We think we have some answers going forward, but we’re not ready to talk about that publicly at this point. So we’re working on fixing that, because that’s been a big problem. Publishers, when they put out good games, are not getting the same sales results that they got a few years back. So piracy’s been a big issue and we’re working on that very diligently to bring about some solutions."

Motorstorm 3 Domain Name Registered By Sony Europe

Irish Gaming Site TheGamingLiberty.com write;

"It appears that the domain Motorstorm3.com is registered to Sony Computer Entertainment Europe. Curiously www.motorstorm3.com takes you directly to Sony’s Official Playstation Website. So with that I ran a quick Who Is search and sure enough, www.motorstorm3.com was created by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe on the 19th of January 2010 with an expiry date listed for the 19th of January 2010. It looks like Motorstorm 3 could therefore be on the way to Playstation 3."

UGO: MotorStorm: Arctic Edge Review – Left Out in the Cold

Posted by admin On November - 1 - 2009 ADD COMMENTS

UGO writes: "Motorstorm in your pocket. Sounds cool, right? Well, it almost is.

I’m a huge fan of the console versions of MotorStorm and was intrigued earlier this year when Sony announced a PSP release for the series. Could BigBig Studios bring the gorgeously chaotic MotorStorm experience to the small screen? Yes and no."

PSP Review: Motorstorm Arctic Edge | The Portable Gamer

Posted by admin On October - 22 - 2009 ADD COMMENTS

TPG writes: "Motorstorm: Arctic Edge is simply fantastic. It’s an extremely intense arcade racer, it has amazing presentation, online play, and it does justice to the PSP. Here is a game that is an example of how PSP games should be approached: with the handheld in mind. It takes into consideration the PSP’s features (custom soundtracks, photo mode, online play) and puts the hardware to good use. If you are looking for an awesome arcade racer to play on the road, look no further than Motorstorm: Arctic Edge."

This is MotorStorm, in its entirety, in a wholly new setting but without losing anything that made the series so damn fun on the PS3. Without a doubt, this is one of the best racing games you can find on the PSP. Go buy it.

EU PlayStation Store Update (01/10/09)

Posted by admin On October - 1 - 2009 ADD COMMENTS

EU PS Blog writes: "So, we’ve finally arrived to this week’s update – I hope you’re all ready for the rundown, as there’s a lot of content on offer this week.

Usually I list the PS3 specific content first, but seeing as this week we’re all excited about the PSP Go launch, the new Media Go store launching (replacing the PC based Media Manager application), and the first batch of minis titles hitting the store, the PSP content list will take the headlining slot today.

The minis range of titles launches with games such as Tetris, Fieldrunners, Pinball Fantasies and Hero of Sparta available (amongst others), and these bitesize games (all under 100MB) come in under the £4/€5 mark and offer a lot of value for their size!

We also have brand new PSP games released such as Gran Turismo, MotorStorm Arctic Edge, PixelJunk Monsters Deluxe, and Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny (with our favourite God of War Kratos featuring as a playable character) and also available from Friday morning we’ll have FIFA 10 and Beaterator.

The games for PSP don’t stop there though, with a host of legacy titles hitting the store featuring such titles as Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories, Midnight Club L.A. Remix and God of War: Chains of Olympus. For the full list of content scroll down a bit further and have a look at the delights in their entirety!

Also, for the added benefit of those of you new to the store, or are new to the PSP family, I have provided a full run-down of all the PSP games available via the store, there’s quite a hefty amount of title available for you.

For those of you looking for the PS3 content, we have TMNT: Turtles In Time Re-shelled available (trail and full game unlock) and a plethora of demos with Brütal Legend, Need For Speed: Shift, Star Wars The Clone Wars: Republic Heroes, and Up The Video Game ready for you to play. Fallout 3 has two new packs in the form of The Pitt and Operation Anchorage, and we also have additional content packs for LittleBigPlanet, FIFA 10, NBA Live 10 and others.

If none of that vast offering fills you with joy, delights, or hours of fun, then I have to question if you really enjoy playing games…well, do you? J

Until next week, take it easy and have fun!"

Gaming Union: Motorstorm: Arctic Edge Review

Posted by admin On September - 29 - 2009 ADD COMMENTS

Gaming Union: "Motorstorm: Arctic Edge perfectly recreates the look at feel of the Motorstorm franchise on the PlayStation Portable. The only concession that appears to have been made is with the graphics, something which is hardly surprising. Everything else is just as would be expected in a full console title, and while it would have been nice to see a larger amount of variety in the race modes available, the excellent gameplay makes this easy to overlook. The addition of a full online mode is also something that is worth highlighting, and it’s the icing on the cake of what’s simply an extremely polished product."

Gamereactor (Norway) : Motorstorm: Artic Edge Review

Posted by admin On September - 27 - 2009 ADD COMMENTS

Richard Imenes "Head over tired of sitting and offline play, it is possible to go on the big internet and find some games comrades. It has also the ad hoc mode for the two times you happen to be near someone else who owns both a PSP and the MotorStorm game. There, you and five other players choose between twelve tracks and a couple of modes. Not quite large, in other words – but it may well give a few hours entertainment, if you manage to find someone else to play with."
