Games Are Indie with Gerbil Physics

Posted by admin On December - 30 - 2009 ADD COMMENTS

Touted by developer Pencel Games as “the most fun you can have with gerbils whilst still being legal,” Gerbil Physics is here. What’s not to like about a game with that as the tagline? This hidden gem is a whopping 80 MSFT points, making it a dollar. Plus, you get to use all sorts of equipment, including bombs, ropes, and the “Iron Gerbils” to destroy buildings made of gerbils across 24 levels and make style points along the way.

Pencel Games are a London-based team comprised of three independent game developers focused on making unique and compelling games. We like that. Go see them at  www.pencelgames.com.

Microsoft does well with Xbox 360, but needs to try harder

Posted by admin On May - 30 - 2009 ADD COMMENTS

The news flow is abuzz this week with stats about Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ: MSFT) and its Xbox 360 console. According to reports, the company has sold 30 million units of the gaming hardware around the world. Nintendo Co., Ltd. (OTC: NTDOY) is still in first place with 50 million Wii consoles sold. And Sony Corporation (NYSE: SNE)? Well, the PlayStation 3 is decidedly third with roughly 22 million systems moved through retail channels. And don’t start with that Xbox-360-had-a-year-over-Sony excuse. Doesn’t matter. Microsoft has so far played it well.

Posted by admin On April - 10 - 2009 ADD COMMENTS

BusinessInsider: Microsoft’s (MSFT) latest anti-Apple (AAPL) ad has us scratching our heads: Since when has anyone thought Macs were kiddie computers?

Continuing the company’s "Laptop Hunters" ad series, once again we’re introduced to budget-conscious shoppers looking to buy a new computer and checking out both Macs and Windows-based laptops. This time, instead of redhead actress "I’m just not cool enough to be a Mac person" Lauren or "Macs are so sexy" Giampaolo, it’s a mother-and-son pair, Lisa and 11-year-old Jackson.

Great setup so far, and a scenario consumers can relate to. But here’s where the ad goes wrong:
