Ghost Recon: Future Soldier Beta ships with Splinter Cell Conviction, Releases Holiday 2010

Posted by admin On February - 9 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

It’s been a long wait for Ghost Recon fans but Tom Clancy fanatics are entitled to a special treat should they pick up Sam Fisher’s newest outing this April. While game details remain sparse in the press release below (No screenshots Ubisoft? Really?) we do know that Ubisoft Paris is behind this one again. And much like the Halo: Reach beta on the ODST disc, future soldiers will have to wait until summer when the multiplayer  demo finally goes live. Strangely, PS3 owners are getting the shaft on this one with the beta only available for members of Xbox Live. The question remains whether gamers will have tired of the whole “Modern Soldier Model” after a year with MW2 and the next Medal of Honor installment.

LONDON – February 9, 2010 – Today Ubisoft announced that Tom Clancy™’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldier™ is in development at Ubisoft’s Paris studio and is scheduled to be released worldwide Holiday 2010.

Created by the award-winning team behind Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter® and Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter® 2, the game will feature cutting-edge technology, prototype high-tech weaponry, and state-of-the-art single-player and multiplayer modes. Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldier will go beyond the core Ghost Recon franchise and deliver a fresh gameplay experience, with an unparalleled level of quality that will excite long-time fans and newcomers alike.

Ubisoft is offering gamers a chance to be the first to play Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldier’s Multiplayer Beta this summer 2010. This exclusive beta invitation will be available for a limited time to customers who purchase Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Conviction™ for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, which releases on 16 April 2010.

Halo: Reach world premiere

 Halo Reach poster artwork

As some of you may have realized, last night was the Video Game Awards.  As well as handing out nice mementos to the winners and playing host to a large amount of bonhomie and back-slapping, the VGAs also showcased a few new and exciting things.  One of these new and exciting things was a two-minute long cinematic for Bungie’s forthcoming Halo: Reach.  Check it out.

See?  We do love you.  The multiplayer beta is rumoured to be going live at some point in the first half of 2010, so those of you canny enough to hold on to your ODST discs will be able to get in when it launches.

I think we can all agree that is a mightily enticing cinematic right there, and it underscores the improvements made now that Bungie has switched to a new game engine.  This is especially impressive given that in this tweet Bungie confirmed the trailer seen here is made entirely using the in-game engine, and not prerendered graphics.

When we know more about Reach, you’ll know more.

U2’s Overall Review Score so Far is…

Posted by admin On September - 29 - 2009 ADD COMMENTS

Uncharted 2: Among thieves is shaping up to be a great game, possibly the best game on the PS3 so far. Personally I have been involved in the multiplayer beta, back in June, and I also pre-ordered my copy from EBGames, so I am also participating in the current demo/beta. After having these opportunities, to play part of the multiplayer aspect of the game, I must say I am excited for the release of Uncharted 2, especially with the outstanding reviews so far. So, now, without further adieu here is a breakdown of Uncharted 2’s Overall Review Score as of September 28th 2009, 15 days before launch:

Uncharted 2 Multiplayer Demo: Biggest In History?

Posted by admin On September - 13 - 2009 ADD COMMENTS

PSXExtreme writes: "You know, we’ve played 10-minute demos in the past, and although the length of playable demos has begun to expand, perhaps nothing will be able to touch the depth of what’s coming for Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.

As most of you know, a multiplayer demo will release this week – if you’ve pre-ordered the game from GameStop; otherwise, you’ll have to wait until September 29 to try it – and most are very excited. But it’d be a mistake to assume that this is "just another demo." No, after reading the full details, this early multiplayer jaunt might be the single biggest demo in history. Naughty Dog says they want to jam as much of the finalized multiplayer experience into a "reasonably sized file," which by the way comes to 1.5GB. This 1.5GB gives you four maps, four competitive modes, two co-op modes, that awesome cinema mode, the chance to create custom games for you and others, access to new skins, and 80% of the booster skills that will be in the full version. …uh, isn’t that pretty much a whole game right there? As IGN said, it’s a damn good thing this demo ends on launch day; otherwise, people just might play this for months on end. Heck, you can even take advantage of the money system that lets you use accumulated cash to purchase new skins, boosters, weapon upgrades and taunts! We didn’t have half this stuff in the multiplayer beta earlier in the summer, for crying out loud.

But anyway, if this isn’t enough incentive for you to pre-purchase Uncharted 2, you should have your "gamer" label revoked."
