NowGamer: Epic producer Cliff Blezinski has talked about what he wants to see from motion control titles, and why Natal has the edge

Why PlayStation Move Will Beat Project Natal And The Wii

Posted by admin On March - 16 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

GameBrit writes: "The Nintendo Wii has shown the masses that motion controls are popular. Not just for those who already class gaming as a hobby, but also for people who have never even played or enjoyed a games console before. This has led to the Wii being the current leader in sales followed by the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Naturally both Microsoft and Sony have seen this success and now want a piece of the motion based pie. This has culminated in Project Natal, a camera based option, and the PlayStation Move combination from Sony, featuring a camera alongside Wiimote and Nunchuck style devices. IGN Editor Matt Casamassina dishes the dirt on the behind-the-scenes at GDC

Editor-at-Large Matt Casamassina dishes the dirt on the behind-the-scenes murmurings at the event. I’m not impressed, I say. PS3 Move features almost no latency — just one frame — but that paper truth didn’t seem to translate to reality as I played with the controller at Sony’s event. Most of the stuff played like first-generation Wii efforts from third-parties. Natal, though — the motion offering from Microsoft — not so much. The same studio rep calls Natal a big, buggy mess. "It’s sh*t," he adds, saying that it just doesn’t work as promised. That it’s slow and that the camera is imprecise, which he notes, is causing some major development woes.
