GamingUnion.net: Hexyz Force Preview

Posted by admin On April - 24 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

GamingUnion.net: "Nowadays, developer Sting is most known for their complicated, but extremely immersive RPGs such as Riviera: The Promised Land, Yggdra Union, and Knights in the Nightmare. But long-time fans know that the developer has also worked on old-fashioned RPGs, such as their Evolution series of games. Hexyz Force, their latest PSP title, follows this pattern, replacing complex and intricate game mechanics with something that RPG fans are more used to, but still keeping the charm and secrets that Sting games are known for. Will new fans of the developer find Hexyz Force an enjoyable deviation from the developer’s latest games, or should the company stick with what they’ve become known for?"

New WoW Armory Timestamp Controversy

Posted by admin On January - 21 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

The WoW Armory recently got a nice face lift, but introduced activity timestamp. This feature is a serious privacy controversy when people can actually monitor your gaming schedule trends.

From gold farmers to your job’s boss and your mom can see when you have played. Gold farmers can play when they know you aren’t around, your boss can find out you played WoW during your 9am – 5pm schedule, and your mom can find out you were playing after bedtime. What a nightmare!

Can Knights In The Nightmare Really Work On PSP?

Posted by admin On January - 14 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

Gaming Union writes: "In the latest issue of Famitsu, it was revealed that Sting would be releasing a PlayStation Portable port of Knights in the Nightmare, which was released in North America by Atlus last June on the Nintendo DS.

The game garnered less than impressive sales in Japan, which explains why the developer would be porting the game over to cover their losses. Sting has been known to do ports such as this in the past, most recently with Riviera: The Promised Land and Yggdra Union. But unlike those games, it is hard to see how Knights in the Nightmare can make a proper transition to the PSP."

New Alan Wake Screenshots

Posted by admin On January - 13 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

May is almost here, and with it comes the release of Microsoft’s highly anticipated psychological-action thriller, Alan Wake. The game’s protagonist is (surprise!) author Alan Wake, who has caught a spot of writer’s block. To help alleviate his issue, Alan and his wife Alice furlough in the idyllic town of Bright Falls. Soon after their arrival, Alice goes missing and Alan’s nightmare intensifies as his latest work begins to literally come alive around him. We’re sure the devs NEVER read a Stephen King book, right?

The game will feature a full day/night cycle, a semi-free-roam environment, and a television-like episodic format. Look for it on the shelves sometime in May, but, until then, take a look at the screenshots.

What kind of Pirate Are You?

Posted by admin On December - 1 - 2009 ADD COMMENTS

Given the drop off in video game sales over the past few months, one must assume that there has been at least a slight increase in software piracy. Asides from the usual piracy suspects, people struggling to find employment tend not to worry as much about morality or the ramifications on the gaming industry as these are things that do not affect their own wallet. Add to this the holidays which will surely have some burned games nestled within stockings over a fireplace, and you have a game developer’s nightmare.

World of Warcraft: Stormrage Cover Revealed

Posted by admin On August - 14 - 2009 ADD COMMENTS

Pocket Books and Blizzard Entertainment have finally revealed the front cover of the upcoming novel by Richard A. Knaak titled World of Warcraft: Stormrage.

A few months ago, Chris Metzen and Micky Neilson revealed this book would deal with the Nightmare which is affecting the Emerald Dream. Thus making lore geeks go into speculation-mode that the next expansion to the MMORPG might introduce the Emerald Dream.

The front cover already incites controversy. The twins Malfurion and Illidan were identical except for one thing. Illidan’s eyes were golden, while Malfurion’s were silver. This front cover shows a golden-eyed Malfurion which brings the interrogative whether Illidan’s psyche has somehow shared Malfurion’s body after his demise in the Black Temple.

The novel hits bookstores on February 10, 2010.

World of Warcraft Lore: Who disturbs the Sleep in the Emerald Dream?

Posted by admin On July - 24 - 2009 ADD COMMENTS

Worldofwar.net theorizes who could be behind the Nightmare disturbing the Emerald Dream by connecting the dots off lore existent in the World of Warcraft quests since 2004 up to the recent release of World of Warcraft: Arthas by Christie Golden. Old gods? Deathwing? Ner’zhul? How do all this leads to the next World of Warcraft expansion and connect with the Cataclysm trademark? The truth might be shocking.
