Speaking at a panel on the emerging casual gaming market today, God of War and Twisted Metal creator David Jaffe called his company’s 2007 PlayStation Network game Calling All Cars "a mistake." Jaffe made the remark at the DICE Summit, an annual gathering of industry professionals in Las Vegas.

Jaffe had been asked whether he considered the genre-bending downloadable action game a hardcore or casual experience. "I’d call it a mistake," he replied.

The latest Podcast Beyond episode hinted that a very good Playstation 3 game will be getting trophies support.

PSUni writes: "Previous reports have only said that God of War III will be over 10 hours long, but now we understand that the PlayStation 3 game will possibly stretch to double that depending on the difficulty."

Today, I am pleased to be here on the PlayStation.Blog to introduce you to The Tester cast. In all, 11 contestants were selected for The Tester. The cast ranges in age from 22 – 36 years-old and stems from all walks of life – from a student, to a paramedic, to a used car salesman. While a seemingly diverse bunch, this group is united in the passion needed to be the next PlayStation game tester.

Tonight’s Spike Video Game Awards proceedings have ended, and we thought it would be helpful to outline all the announcements from the ceremony. Some of the bigger announcements already have their own dedicated stories, but smaller ones are all wrapped up here alongside the larger news bits.

First and foremost, Uncharted 2 took the top prize at the awards, gaining Game of the Year, as well as Best Graphics and Best PlayStation 3 Game. To see all the winners, check our full listing. But before any of that, the show kicked off with an intriguing look at Batman: Arkham Asylum 2. Soon after, Zachary Quinto of Heroes and Star Trek fame mentioned that he’ll be among the voices in the upcoming Star Trek Online. And speaking of retro-hip movie revivals, the Tron tie-in game was retitled Tron Evolution.

Moving on, we got announcements of a new True Crime game coming from United Front, with Activision publishing. A downloadable game based on the show Deadliest Warrior was announced, showing off a medieval knight facing off against a ninja. The game is set to come out in 2010. Unsurprisingly, UFC 2010 is coming and was shown prominently as well. LucasArts premiered The Force Unleashed 2, showing the Apprentice taking on a huge beast with dual lightsabers.

Each week voters, and a panel of judges which included members of the DCUO team, will help determine what shots qualify as the "best" and will be eligible for voter prizes.’

Infatuated Gamer: Amazon is giving away $20 credit towards their Playstation Network Store when you purchase a select first-party published Playstation 3 game.

Informationweek.com writes: The U.S. Air Force is looking to buy 2,200 Sony PlayStation 3 game consoles to built out a research supercomputer, according to an document posted on the federal government’s procurement Web site.

The PlayStation 3s will be used at the Air Force Research Laboratory’s information directorate in Rome, N.Y., where they will be added to an existing cluster of 336 PlayStation 3s being used to conduct supercomputing research.

A2M, the developer of Wet, is working on a new Playstation 3 exclusive game called Revenge of the Wounded Dragons.
