Only Sony is Stopping Sony From Being Number One in Games
GFB writes: "While fanboys argue back and forth about what holds the Xbox 360 back or why the Wii is "lame", the Playstation 3 and Playstation Portable hardware have been facing the toughest foe of all, their own manufacturer. For some reason Sony just keeps shooting itself in the foot and refusing to catch on.
Starting back with Sony’s first major marketing mistake of this generation, the home of Playstation decided to create a fake marketing campaign called ‘all i want for xmas is a psp’ which resulted in a huge backlash from gamers. Some still argue that the PSP hasn’t recovered from the viral stigma slapped on it from this horrible holiday campaign."

Sony struggles with poor sales of the PSP Go
ARN writes "When Sony launched its PSP Go last year the company had high hopes. The device was supposed to help PlayStation Portable shipments increase by almost a million units for the year and spearhead Sony’s digital download push into the portable gaming market. But things haven’t gone according to plan.
"The PSP Go is both smaller and lighter than the original PSP and represents the first major refresh of the portable gaming platform since it was introduced in 2004" but "Gamers haven’t been impressed"
Lunar: Silver Star Harmony DualShockers Review
DualShockers writes, "For those of you who don’t know, Lunar: The Silver Star was released in Japan in the early 90s and since has been remade and ported on various systems. In this game you play as a simple guy named Alex who stumbles upon the adventure of a lifetime. Living in an enchanted world that appears to be a mythological ancient civilization on the moon, your character is drawn into a deep entanglement against evil and injustice. The PlayStation Portable has been graced with its own version of this reborn classic dubbed Lunar: Silver Star Harmony. With an emotionally charged story that delivers a deep and exhilarating experience, Lunar: Silver Star Harmony is immersion at its finest…"
IGN: UMD Format "Alive And Well"
Sony’s PlayStation Portable disc-based titles aren’t going away anytime soon. During a session at the Game Developers Conference this past week, the company said it has no plans in abandoning the UMD format.
The session was meant to inform independent developers about the marketplace advantages that exist on the PlayStation platform. When discussing the PSP, the company said its UMD format is "alive and well" and that all retail games will continue to be available on both a UMD disc and digitally on the PlayStation Network store.
Sony also provided its latest life-to-date sales for the PSP platform. Since its North American release in 2005, sales have reached 17 million total units. Total worldwide sales have now topped 60 million total units.
GamingUnion.net: Half-Minute Hero Review
GamingUnion.net writes "Half-Minute Hero is a game for the PlayStation Portable that hopes to serve as a one-stop shop, combining multiple genres into a single package. It’s a very unique game and despite bringing all these genres together, it’s held together by its key emphasis on time. The game has already seen the light of day in Japan and North America (although it was known as Yusha 30 in Japan) and now the game has made its way to Europe thanks to Rising Star Games."
GamingUnion.net: Dead or Alive: Paradise Preview
GamingUnion.net: "Dead or Alive, an unusually "exotic" beat-em up series by Team Ninja, makes its way onto the PlayStation Portable for the first time in the form of Dead of Alive: Paradise. It’s due to land in all regions on the 2nd of April, but the game is not going for its usual genre this time. Much like with the Dead or Alive Xtreme spin-off titles, this game is set to go against the grain."
LucasArts and LEGO announce LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars
Today LucasArts and TT Games broke wind that they would base the next adorable Star Wars game on the mega-successful Cartoon Network CGI show, The Clone Wars. Considering this is much better source material than the abysmal LEGO Indiana Jones 2, it still leaves us in the dark as to what plots will be parodied/ enjoyed will be as the series is now over 20 hours long. But as many fans old and new will attest, Star Wars: The Clone Wars has proven to be vastly more entertaining than the last 3 films combined and the LEGO treatment will be nothing but a smile from ear to ear, especially with level builder ready to go. If only we could have a vehicle builder too- I mean…who doesn’t want to build a Mandalorian luxury train?
The Press Release follows:
