Activision Blizzard’s Q3 financials revealed quite a few nuggets of information on their performance over the 2009 holiday period and also brought news of new releases coming scheduled for 2010. Videogamer writes: "Capcom has revealed that the Xbox 360’s online capabilities are the reason it chose to create a version of MMO, Monster Hunter Frontier Online, for the Microsoft console.
Asked about the game during a Q3 Q&A conference call, Capcom said: ‘We decided to offer this title for the Xbox 360 because of this console’s outstanding online game playing capabilities and for other reasons.’"
According to the recent Q3 report from Funcom, gamers have higher expectations for its upcoming MMO The Secret World than they did for the company’s other MMO, Age of Conan, at the same stage of development.
NCSoft have announced a whopping 630% growth in profits for this quarter on the same period last year. This massive hike in profits is mainly down to their new epic MMORPG Aion along with steady sales of Lineage 2.
The awesomely successful launch of Aion in the US and Europe has shows that NCSoft might just have the teeth to challenge Blizzard/Activision on their own turf.
NCsoft’s CFO Jaeho Lee said, “2009 Q3 has been a very meaningful period for NCsoft. Especially since our arduous preparations and efforts for overseas expansion became tangible through Aion ’ s successful global launching. ” He also added that “ We will not be contented with these early results. We will do our best to make Aion a globally loved game and endeavor for results surpassing that of Aion with upcoming Blade&Soul and Guild Wars 2.

What with the majority of Q3 and Q4 releases being sequels, ResumePlay thought they’d do a rundown of ideas and concepts that developers might want to adhere to in order to create better sequels.
Castlevania: The Adventure ReBirth was only just days ago leaked on the ESRB’s website, and although Konami themselves haven’t issued any statements regarding the game, the fact that it’s listed as a Q3 release on Nintendo’s list makes it pretty official — and also means its release is closer than expected.
Other notable games on the list include an October 20 release date for Space Invaders Extreme 2, a November 10 date for Phantasy Star Zero on the DS, and also a November 10 release for Activision’s Wii port of Call of Duty 4, now titled Call of Duty: Modern Warfare: Reflex (making it one of those rare games with two colons in its title). Call of Duty: Modern Warfare: Mobilized will also be released on the DS on November 10, and the DSiWare Electroplankton titles are set for a Q4 release.
