Examiner: A few days ago, Square Enix messed up when releasing a package of media assets to news publications. Included in the files were screenshots from both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 version of their upcoming RPG Final Fantasy XIII. The problem?
Some of the screenshots comparing the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 version were practically identical. So identical, in fact, that they appeared to be the same exact picture only with a different user interface surreptitiously photoshopped in after the fact.
News outlets called BS and in very predictable fashion, the Internet exploded. Square Enix’s public relations rep was quick to issue a hasty, "our bad," and reassure gamers that the screenshots were not only from pre-production and not intended for promotional use, but they had also been accidentally included in the asset package.
So what’s the big deal?
