GameZone: Metro 2033 Review

Posted by admin On March - 16 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

GameZone’s Dakota Grabowski writes,

"So do you have what it takes to survive the perilous world of Metro 2033? The single-player affair is worthy of every FPS fanatics’ time since the 4A Games and THQ were able to put forth a wonderful tale that deserved telling. The world is engrossing as it invites players for multiple trips with the sheer amount of detail 4A Games spent implementing into the environments. Metro 2033 is as pure as they come in the genre and I gladly welcome any sequel that may reach fruition."

Conduit 2 Confirmed at GDC?

Posted by admin On March - 16 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

High Voltage Software is well known for their Wii game, "The Conduit," Although receiving mixed reviews and having mediocre sales, the game’s developer, High Voltage Software , and the game publisher, SEGA, have repeatedly said that they have been happy with the game performance. But has the game performed well enough for a sequel? Well there have been multiple claims the a poster advertising the games sequel was at the HVS booth during GDC.

"…[B]ut what caught my eye was that in the demo room there was a poster on the back wall. And on the poster, in a Conduit-esque font, was a giant 2. No date, no title, just the 2."

Is Take Two double dipping with BioShock 2 DLC?

Posted by admin On March - 12 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

When fans first heard word that they were going to get an opportunity to return to Rapture, the masses rejoiced. Not only was BioShock 2 the sequel to one of the biggest surprise hits of this console generation, but it also took a stab at bringing the franchise’s trademark flare to the multiplayer front. Many gamers, myself included, asked why the developers would try to sully what was such an overwhelmingly strong single player experience, by attempting to transfer that magic to a multiplayer arena.

Those that cried foul about the multiplayer initially seem to actually have a reason to complain now, as the recently released Sinclair Solutions Tester Pack DLC may be noting more than a glorified unlock code.

The pack, which costs 400 Microsoft Points (about £3.40) weighs in at 108kb on Xbox 360, and just 24kb on PC, both of which are so small it would seem to suggest it’s simply an unlock key to open content that already exists on the game disc.  — Via CVG.com

So this raises the question, do you think it is okay for publishers to re-charge you for material that is already on your game disc?  I am going to have to say that this is incredibly wrong, but we are curious what you all think.  Let us know what you think in the comments below.

Is That A Pistol In Your Pocket, Or Are You Happy They Got Playboy In Your Mafia II?

Posted by admin On March - 9 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

2k Games has taken up a partnership of the ages.  Good ‘ol Hugh has granted the people working on Mafia II fifty vintage Playboy covers to be used in the game.  These covers will be from the same timeline that Mafia II is based.  Don’t get overly excited to see the wrestler known as China sitting on the coffee table next to the scotch.

We will assume that these will all be PG-13 type covers.  No matter, this is a huge win in the realm of making the game that much more authentic.  We are that much more excited to sink our teeth into this sequel!

Sony Announces SOCOM 4

Posted by admin On March - 4 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

SOCOM 4

Sony has officially announced its “secret sequel,” and as it turns out, it’s a proper follow-up to the beloved SOCOM series: SOCOM 4. The game is being developed by Zipper Interactive, and it’s due out this fall. Many assumed MAG was the developer’s next step in military action, but apparently they plan to keep the two running concurrently. The blog promises to continue to support MAG after SOCOM 4 launches.

The plot revolves around a military coup in a South Asian country. Players take control of a five-man squad to stop him in the single-player campaign. IGN reports that the 12-hour mission features motion-captured characters in the directorial style of Uncharted 2. All weapons and supplies will be either given at the start of the game, or found inside the missions, to replicate the feeling of searching for supplies in a combat scenario. Of course, multiplayer is back as well, promising 32-person multiplayer with new Special Forces units. Other than that, details are sparse, but we’re sure to see more in the coming months.

WorthPlaying: Endless Ocean 2: Blue World Review

Posted by admin On March - 1 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

WorthPlaying writes: "Fans of the original EndlessOcean must be pretty happy to see that the sequel made its way to the U.S., considering the first title’s lukewarm critical reception. It’s a good thing that it did, though, for critics and fans alike, as Endless Ocean 2: Blue World does a really solid job of addressing the issues that plagued the original title. It also improves upon nearly every single aspect that made the original such a unique and relaxing game to play."

U R MR GAY: The sequel

Posted by admin On February - 28 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

AllIsBrawl: As we all know there seems to be a kind of subliminal message in the Mario Galaxy 1 boxart:

In the SMG logo, some words have a little star on the bottom, which are:

U R M R G A Y

Which, if read like U R MR GAY, sounds like You are Mr. Gay

Now many people think it’s just a coincidence, including myself, that is, however until a few minutes ago:

Same deal, certain letters have a little star on the bottom, which are:

U R M I A Y

UR MIAY? UR MI AY? no no, read it BACKWARDS:

Y A I M R U

which, if read like YA I M R U, sounds like Yeah I am are you?

Bungie explains why Halo: Reach instead of "Halo 4"

Posted by admin On February - 24 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

Bungie’s next game, Halo: Reach, will likely be the last Bungie-developed Halo. This being the case, one might have expected the studio to make its last installment in the series a traditional sequel to Halo 3 — you know, a "Halo 4."

But Bungie had other plans.

Instead, the developer opted to go a different route, and what we’re getting — Halo: Reach — is a prequel to the original Halo.

Bungie’s reasoning explained inside.
