Birth By Sleep Release Date Announced

Posted by admin On May - 17 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

September 7, 2010. That’s when you can pick up the new Kingdom Hearts game, named Birth By Sleep. After the disappointing and oddly named DS version, we’re understandably a bit wary, but this one is coming to your PSP, both via UMD and PSN download. That might be worth the price of admission right there.

The story concerns three characters of appropriately androgynous appearance, Ventus (latin for wind), Aqua and Terra, as they travel to unexplored Disney-themed worlds. Here’s us, hoping that the developers populate these worlds with more than just a couple of disney characters and empty level environments. Seriously. We mean it. Like every other movie trailer, we really want to trust that the best stuff is yet to come, not just crammed into the 30 seconds or so of the launch trailer.

Enjoy the screenshots and launch trailer, and let us know what you think.

Alan Wake to be 20-30 Hours Long

Posted by admin On April - 23 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

Rely on Horror writes: "The Director of Alan Wake, Matias Myllyrinne, tweeted a few hours ago that Alan Wake, "Takes me 3 times longer to play than Max Payne 2 did. But I can play both games in my sleep… and sometimes do.

Max Payne 2 was around a 6-10 hour long game your first time through, which would imply Alan Wake may very well be a game that could last you the first time through between 20-30 hours."

Chocolate Covered Nuts

I love to write about a variety of interesting topics. I do not have a favorite topic in mind, but I really enjoy writing about almost anything right now. At this time I am starting an online business. I have been known to write about credit cards, insurance, Spanish, English, Chinese, Japanese, French, Italian, German and other languages. I speak several different languages and currently I’m going to school to acquire a bachelors degree.

When I’m done with school, I will continue to do SEO work and write articles. I enjoy writing articles because I’m able to learn more about the topics that I’m not very familiar with. Of course, I have to learn about the topics first, and I do much of my research on the internet. I am able to write about what I have learned on that topic. For example, if I am learning, or if I am going to write an article about a topic, I first go online and I research that topic. Sometimes it only takes me a few minutes when I am somewhat familiar with the topic already. It depends on how familiar I am with the topic. Sometimes it might take me an hour or more to learn about the topic. Either way, I am continuing my education.

I look at all kinds of sites. I like to look at sites like yahoo answers, Google News, Yahoo news, CNN, Fox news, press releases and other reference materials. After I have researched the topic well, I can write something from off the top of my head. To give you an example you can check out some of my work in the highlighted links.

I then set the article aside and maybe wait a few hours, sometimes a day and then I’ll get back to it later with fresh eyes and a good night’s sleep. Next I’ll see the article, and again review it for any errors or any changes needed. I like to see if it might sound better if it were put in other words, sometimes more precise and condensed. Then I’m ready to publish what I wrote, so I find the place where I want to publish it, and I submit the article. The article is then reviewed. It is usually accepted and I can go on in the next topic of choice. After the readers have the information, they can go on to look up the information that I have given to them.

Girls Are Evil

Posted by admin On April - 4 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

I’ve never been one to identify with the “victim” mentality. I try to live my life in a way that what happened to me doesn’t define me. That being said, it’s been a really hard week for me. As someone who has been sexually assaulted, I try to steer clear of anything that would bring back memories of what happened. Since I live, breathe and sleep gaming that usually isn’t a problem. Then Tuesday morning comes and as I log into my Twitter account (@MetalGearBAE) to find it flooded with articles on a game called ‘Rapelay’ by Illusion.

And of course, people are outraged. The game was banned and pulled off shelves only to have it garner so much attention that it went viral. As I read the articles and watch the videos I am utterly disgusted. My stomach actually flips over. I sweat. My eyes well up. I can’t get it out of my mind.

As I sit here on Thursday afternoon I realize that instead of waking up early like normal, I’ve slept in until late in the day both days since this news story became so popular. I’ve just HAD to get outside, to see the sun and not feel trapped. And I want to get away. Far, far away from my life right now and I really have nothing to run from. Besides being disabled, (and I’ll save all that mess for another column) I love my life and everyone in it. I’m blessed to have a wonderful family and a great set of friends.

So what’s the problem?

I realize that I feel victimized all over again.

There is my outrage over this game.

For anyone- man or woman who has been assaulted, it is always there with you. The fear and anxiety is always lurking in the background even when you move on and I am amazed that someone would find it fun to rape women over and over in a video game. Or maybe I’m not amazed. The world seems to be turning into something I’m not proud of lately.

People are angry because they believe that someone will play this game and go on a raping spree.

To me, that’s the same as saying someone will play GTA4 and go on a crime spree.

I’m just not buying it. Sure, it happens but those people already had a screw loose. It could have been any trigger that set them off. A word, a movie, television or toast. Crazy is Crazy- you can blame it on what you want.

I’m thinking that ‘Rapelay’s’ developer has never had a mother, sister, wife or friend be assaulted. If they did, they would understand the enormity of what they have done. Maybe it won’t reach millions of women and no one will care. Maybe what they wanted was a massive amount of attention to be able to work on a REAL project. I don’t care about that.

What I care about is the anger that I have at them for thinking this is acceptable entertainment and for making me feel like crap all over again. I wonder about my other gaming friends and how this makes them feel. I wonder if I’m being over dramatic.

Most of all, I wonder what it would be like to see the people at Illusion face to face and how they would feel to see my tears. What would they think about my story?

I’m sure we will never know.
