‘One seriously nasty section had us rip the eyeball from the socket of a Cyclops, with no sickening detail spared. In another, Kratos tears the head from a screaming soldier.’

Team Fortress – The Big Red One

TF2 Blog: Soldiers continue to hold the lead in the war-but like an M&M lodged up their collective noses, the Demoman refuses to melt away quietly. In other M&M-Stuck-Up-Drew-Wolf’s-Nose metaphor news, the Soldier’s lead remains thin as a candy coating. In fact, judging from our most recent numbers (4923531 Soldiers killed to 5056134 Demomen killed), the Demo actually seems to be closing the gap as the War hurtles to a close.

Valve Reveals Team Fortress 2 "War Update"

Team Fortress 2 War Update

We’ve been wondering about the various clues Valve dropped in the latest update to Team Fortress 2, and tonight they’ve revealed what it all meant. The War Update is another dual-class update, this time for the Soldier and Demoman. But this update will come with a twist, as only one of the two classes will earn a special weapon. Which class gets it will be determined by some friendly, deadly competition.

Each class will get three new load-out weapons that will be revealed over a week, along with new maps and “surprises” like the usual class updates. A secret seventh weapon will go to whichever class racks up more kills on the other during the competition time. Each Soldier that kills a Demoman scores a point for his side, and vice-versa. The update page will keep track of how the score is going. Valve warns that if you cheat, they’ll know and it won’t count towards the tally. Check out the official page for the Demoman and Soldier’s rallying cry to like-minded players, and have fun beating each other to earn that weapon.

Team Fortress – Demoman vs Soldier Update

TF2 Blog: "So: how is the War update different from our other class updates?

In many ways, it’s not. Like any other class update, the War update will reveal three new weapons each for the Demoman and Soldier throughout the week, as well as some maps, achievements, and surprises, right up until the day of release, when everything we’ve been teasing goes live…"

In short, show your support for each class by logging on to TF2 and kill each other. Which ever class, Demoman or Soldier, has the most kills on one another by next week gets an extra unlock.

Hop to it, Soldier/Demoman!

IGN: Darkest of Days Review

Posted by admin On September - 10 - 2009 ADD COMMENTS

IGN writes: "If someone were to casually explain the concept of Darkest of Days, it’d sound like a great experience. You’re an unwitting soldier pulled from certain death at the Battle of the Little Bighorn through a time portal by a mysterious futuristic agency called KronoteK. Its chief scientist, Dr. Koell, has gone missing, and it’s up to you to track him down and right some of the aberrations that have been appearing throughout history. If left unchecked, the aberrations could cause potentially disastrous consequences or perhaps even Simpsons-style doughnut rain. The benefit of the B-movie sci-fi plot setup? You can use futuristic weaponry to wipe out armies from ages past. While Darkest of Days does let you fulfill this fantasy – you will, for instance, fight American Civil War-era soldiers with assault rifles – it does little else but annoy and confuse".

Kotaku writes…… Touching? Whether a man and his son enjoy kicking a football or playing a video game together, who’s to judge. But there is a helpless irony in seeing Call of Duty left on the grave of a fallen soldier.

In Wales, the 200th U.K. soldier to die in the Afghanistan conflict was memorialized this weekend. Pvt. Richard Hunt would have been 22 today, Hundreds came to pay their respects.

TheGameReviews writes: "The Jenova Project was actually a pretty good idea; take a bunch of elite soldiers, infuse them with Mako, inject them with the cells of a genocidal alien, and then sit back satisfied that you’ve created the most badass breed of killing machines ever. Then Sephiroth happened. Despite being the Shinra’s Corporation’s perfect soldier, their poster boy for the SOLIDER program sort of ruined things when he went nuts. He burnt down an entire village and then set about trying to crash a meteor into the planet so that he could become God."
