Sony gains RROD sized issue as PS3 stops "doing everything"
The Lost Gamer writes "Whilst the start of a new month would usually bring fresh excitement, especially considering the impending arrival of some of this years biggest titles – Final Fantasy XIII and God of War III – March has been initially hampered by an inherent bug within Sony’s PlayStation 3 consoles."
Sony Passes Two New PlayStation 3 Slims Through the FCC
If you remember, Sand Dollar Enterprise is a pseudonym used by Sony for FCC filings. Sand Dollar was used to pass the original PS3 Slim through the FCC, for example.
Sand Dollar’s filing today is for the CECH-2101A ‘Computer Entertainment System.’ Label pics for the device confirm that this is indeed the Sony PS3, while label placement pics show a device that is the same size and shape as the PS3 Slim.
Another device, called the CECH-2101B is also identified in Sand Dollar’s filing. The only difference between these two devices is the hard drive size.

Xbox360 looks strong in 2010, how Sony will fight back?
VGArabia: X10 gave us a good look for what to expect of the Xbox360 this year. With games such as Halo: reach, Alan Wake, Splinter Cell: Conviction, and Fable 3, you can see that the Xbox360 lineup is far more stronger in 2010 compared to last year. And if Microsoft’s Aaron Greenburg recent statement that X10 is "just a glimpse" of this year’s lineup is true, I think it will make things even harder for Sony’s PS3 to catch up with the Xbox360.
Sony: PS3 supply to be ‘tight’ over coming months
Sony’s senior director of corporate communications Patrick Seybold issued a statement after last night’s NPD numbers for January, explaining that the company’s flagship console may be a bit difficult to find at retail over the next few months. "We’re working very hard with our retail partners to meet consumer interest, but the demand is tremendously high for the PS3 and we expect tight inventory in the coming months," Seybold notes in the statement.
As this is the first we’ve heard about any sort of PlayStation 3 hardware shortages, we followed up with Seybold to make sure he wasn’t only warning about future supply issues, but also explaining January’s sales of the console. He told us: "Yes. The strong demand carrying through the holidays was evident and early in the month we [knew] there was going to be limited supply of the PS3 at retail in January. We’re working closely with the retail channel to meet this demand, but expect tight supply for the coming months."
Sony: PS3’s best is yet to come
CVG: Sony believes that the best is yet to come from PS3 – and that it will only really ‘push the boundaries’ of what is possible from the machine in years to come.
SCE Worldwide Studios Europe VP Michael Denny said today that he believes PS3’s hardware will eventually be pushed by a game in the same way that God Of War II pushed PS2 to the max.
