Strategy Informer reviews God of War III

Posted by admin On March - 8 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

From Strategyinformer.com: "God of War 3 (GOW3) ends the series with Kratos seeking to destroy Olympus, the gods, and specifically his father Zeus. As Santa Monica Studio’s first official title on the PlayStation 3, they were tasked with recreating everything from their previous titles for the new platform, and indeed performed marvelously. Beginning exactly where God of War 2 left off, climbing Mount Olympus on the Titan Gaia’s back, players are treated to one of the most spectacular first levels ever. Several simple tutorials against grunt soldiers all take place on Gaia herself, the lumbering Titan who is constantly moving, allowing for an ever-changing background during combat. The entire level leads up to a tremendous battle against Poseidon, god of the sea, which sets up the rest of the game as an epic adventure with giant levels, hundreds of enemies, gargantuan bosses, and beyond melodramatic action sequences. Over the top doesn’t properly describe this first level, which is so great in scope that it may be the single greatest level of any game, ever. "

Microsoft: Alan Wake will no longer be coming to the PC

Posted by admin On February - 12 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

It was previously thought that the PC version of Alan Wake would be worked on after the release of its Xbox 360 version in May, but Microsoft has shattered hopes by confirming to Strategy Informer that Alan Wake will no longer be coming to PC.

"Some games are more suited for the intimacy of the PC, and others are best played from the couch in front of a larger TV screen. We ultimately realised that the most compelling way to experience "Alan Wake" was on the Xbox 360 platform, so we focused on making it an Xbox 360 exclusive. Both Microsoft and Remedy have long histories in PC game development. This decision was about matching this specific game to the right platform." said a Microsoft spokesperson.

Strategy Informer writes: "Dante’s Inferno. You’ve all heard of it. Maybe because you like the genre, maybe because you’ve read the poem, or maybe you’ve noticed EA’s more aggressive marketing campaign. Either way, Dante’s Inferno has done a good job of making itself ‘known’ to gamers. Strategy Informer recently had a chance to sit down with Visceral Game’s Senior Producer, Juston Lambros."

Strategy Informer Reviews Halo 3: ODST

Posted by admin On September - 20 - 2009 ADD COMMENTS

From Strategy Informer: "Our experience of ODST’s single-player campaign began at 8.30 in the morning at the Future Gallery in Covent Garden, where we played for eight straight hours sat about a foot away from the screen. Bleary-eyed and angry by the game’s closing, our enjoyment has been seriously tarnished by the uninterrupted play session, so here’s a piece of advice. Don’t force yourself to play the campaign in one sitting – it’s not particularly pleasant."

Strategy Informer: Champions Online Review

Posted by admin On September - 12 - 2009 ADD COMMENTS

SI:

As an introduction to any MMO experience-and as easy as it is to single out character creation as an incredibly important facet of any role-playing game-Champions Online hits the ground running with an incredibly diverse creation tool built on the solid foundations of City of Heroes ground-breaking editor. More to the point, it hits the ground, bursts into flames, ice-surfs to the top of the nearest building and takes off in a cloud of rocket smoke.

The wealth of choice on offer is absolutely staggering. Even by the standards of previous titles, Champions’ suite of creative tools will easily swallow up hours as you roll and re-roll each design to your specific tailoring. As a knock-on effect, it’s also worth noting that each of the main five questing zones are currently inhabited by an incredible variety of player-crafted monstrosities; some excellent, some plagiaristic, and some absolute genius. World of Warcraft and almost every other MMO seem a little too limited in the cozy afterglow, but unfortunately this schizophrenic spark of design may well have seeped a little too far into other areas.
