So in the newest preview in London for Final Fantasy XIII the 360 version was finally playable and Gamespot has their preview in with a pretty startling surprise.
"However, we noticed at this stage that the movies on the Xbox 360 suffered from more compression than on the PlayStation 3, while the Xbox 360 had an overall crisper image quality in the main game. "
After weeks of teasing and promising, Blizzard has finally revealed the look of the female version of the Monk character. The reveal came via the Jace Hall show, where some video is shown of her concept art. To the great surprise of most, she’s a blonde with short hair!?
Jeff Marchiafava of Gameinformer writes: "I’ve been playing the 360 multiplayer demo of Bad Company 2 the past couple nights, and for me it falls into the category of being stupidly fun. Not stupid in a simpleminded way (strategy plays more of a role in BC2 than most FPSes I’ve played) but rather so fun that my enjoyment of it just plain stupid – how else can I explain spending countless hours on a one level, one mode demo, when I have so many other amazing games to play?
But my enjoyment of the demo comes as a bit of a surprise, because I didn’t enjoy the original Bad Company’s multiplayer all that much. I played DICE’s Battlefield 1943 first, and after trying out Bad Company for a modest number of hours, I found myself heading right back to World War 2. Which got me wondering – maybe simple is better."
Andriasang: Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker’s delay came as a huge surprise, coming a week after retail posters for the game had been printed and a day after Konami had kicked off its lavish Piece Walker promotional site.
Following Friday’s announcement, Peace Walker director and Metal Gear series father Hideo Kojima made a post at the Kojima Productions blog concerning the delay.
To say Kojima feels sorry about the delay is an understatement.
PSLS writes: "Yesterday, we had reported that David Jaffe’s next game with company Eat Sleep Play, may in fact not be Twisted Metal. Instead, Jaffe made it seem as though the title could be a new IP. Considering how vocal of a fellow he is, it comes as no surprise his personal website has been update to clarify these rumors."
ARS: OnLive promises nothing less than the moon and the stars: the service wants to stream games to you via your laptop or lower-end computer on their own proprietary hardware. We’ve seen tech demos and speeches at shows, but how does it work in practice? Ryan Shrout, from the website PC Perspective, had the fine luck to have access to the beta, and he has shared his thoughts with the world. No surprise: lag is an issue, as are graphics.
Running the games was just as easy on the system as promised. "You are seeing OnLive running Burnout: Paradise on my local system using just under 60MB of memory and anywhere from 4-7 percent of the CPU power," Shrout wrote. "My system is running on a Core i7-860 so that is a bit lower than the total system consumption you’ll see on slower systems, but that is obviously much lower CPU horsepower than would be required to play these types of games locally." In terms of bandwidth, the system was using around 1Mb/s.
Ubisoft has told IncGamers that the "popularity of dancing shows" and linked advertising likely helped the sales of this week’s surprise number one, Just Dance.
DJ Hero wasn’t exactly chart-topping success, but Activision is still committed to turning the title into a viable franchise. No surprise then that CEO Bobby Kotick has confirmed that the much-rumored sequel will be hitting this year.
Speaking with Game Informer, Kotick said, “If you’re going to make a commitment to doing something original, the odds are that you’re not going to get it right on the first chance.”
Kotick called DJ Hero a “really innovative product,” and reiterated that Activision is sticking with the franchise.
