SPECULATION: What We Know, And Want, For Street Fighter X Tekken

Posted by admin On July - 31 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

You know something serious is about to go down when you hear “We got a real match!” before anyone has even hit the start button.

As I approach the 10 year mark as a competitive fighting game player, I can honestly say during my time, I never expected to see a crossover game between Street Fighter and Tekken. Even when rumors of the game’s development began to spread across the Internet, I still couldn’t believe it. The general tone of the rumors from players was, “how would this even work?” — and for good reason. The two games play so radically different from each other, that it’s hard to fathom how characters from each universe could even engage in battle. There are no projectiles in Tekken and, for the most part, Street Fighter characters have always fought on a 2D plane.

BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Review

Posted by admin On July - 28 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

BlazBlue: Continuum Shift is ARC System Works much needed revision of last year’s title, BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger. While Calamity Trigger was a fast-paced, unique, and easy-to-pick-up fighting game, the unbalanced roster resulted in only a few of the characters being viable on a competitive (or even casual) level, which led to many players dropping the game after only a short while. Continuum Shift not only addresses the balance issues of the previous game, but adds new characters and tweaks to the overall gameplay system, resulting in a far more complete package.

If you’re new to the BlazBlue universe, you’ll find the game has a small cast compared to other fighting games on the market, but makes up for it with a diverse roster. The four main attack buttons — A, B, C and D — chain together easily to form combos with each character’s Drive attack, which makes each feel immediately distinct. For instance, Arakune’s Drive Attack lets him curse his opponents, while Ragna’s can absorb his opponent’s life with each attack.

GamePro: Metro 2033 Review

Posted by admin On March - 17 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

PROS: The world is interesting and has some fascinating ideas serving as building blocks; it definitely makes you want to read the novel.

CONS: It’s a rather lackluster introduction to a universe that obviously has something worthwhile to say. Some obvious design flaws scuttle the gameplay as well.

AOTF: Ever since Bungie announced that Halo: Reach would be their final development title in the Halo Universe, many have speculated as to what the company might be up to. Some have speculated that they will focus their efforts on multiplatform titles, others have guessed a little closer to their roots in a Marathon redux. We recently came across a trademark registration that Bungie filed with the United States Patent and Trademark Office on March 9th, 2010. It looks like Bungie is going inter-galactic.

The Bungie Aerospace trademark is likely to be used in conjunction with….
